Our Focal Area

The northeast region of Nigeria, is currently facing a severe health crisis. The region has been grappling with the devastating effects of the Boko Haram insurgency since 2009, and the ongoing conflict has had a significant impact on the health and well-being of the population.

One of the biggest challenges facing the region is the lack of access to basic healthcare services. The conflict has destroyed many health facilities and forced healthcare workers to flee, leaving the population without access to essential health services. This has resulted in a high prevalence of preventable diseases such as malaria, cholera, and measles, which have claimed the lives of many people, especially women and children.

Addressing the health crisis in Northeast Nigeria requires a comprehensive approach that addresses the underlying causes of the problem. Here are some approaches Rise to Inspire Africa Initiative employs to helps those who are experiencing affected by this health crisis.

Nutrition support
Providing nutrition support such as food assistance, nutritional supplements, and education on proper nutrition can help reduce malnutrition rates.
Community Engagement
Engaging communities and working with local leaders can help increase awareness of health issues, promote healthy behaviors, and ensure that health interventions are culturally appropriate and effective.
The conflict in Borno state has also had a significant impact on the mental health of the population. Providing mental health services, including counseling and therapy, can help address the mental health needs of the population.
