Building stronger local partnerships for safer, more protective communities

Rise to Inspire Africa Initiative (RIA) is pleased to have participated in the PACT Lab programme in Nigeria, joining fellow local partners and stakeholders working to strengthen child protection and advance locally led responses to the challenges facing children and their communities.

Our team were present to participate in the programme, engage with fellow partners, and contribute to a shared commitment to improving child protection through collaboration, local leadership, and stronger community-based approaches.

Effective child protection requires more than policies and institutional commitments. It depends on the capacity of local organisations, community actors, and other stakeholders to identify risks, respond to the needs of children, and develop solutions that reflect the realities of the communities they serve.

Local organisations are often closest to the children and families who need support. Their contextual knowledge, established community relationships, and practical experience make them essential partners in building sustainable child protection systems.

Programmes such as PACT Lab provide an important opportunity for local partners to strengthen collaboration, share experiences, reflect on their work, and explore approaches that can improve the quality and effectiveness of child protection interventions.

For RIA, participating in this programme reinforces the importance of investing in local organisations and ensuring that their knowledge, experience, and perspectives contribute meaningfully to child protection efforts.

RIA Initiative’s participation reflects our continued commitment to protecting children, supporting vulnerable populations, and contributing to community-led development across Africa.

We recognise that sustainable progress in child protection requires collective action. Civil society organisations, community leaders, institutions, and development partners all have important roles to play in creating environments where children are protected, their rights are respected, and their well-being is prioritised.

Engagements such as PACT Lab create opportunities to build relationships, exchange knowledge, and strengthen the capacity of local actors to respond to evolving protection needs.

Through our participation, RIA Initiative remains committed to learning from fellow organisations, contributing our perspectives, and applying relevant insights to our work with communities.

Advancing Collaborative and Sustainable Solutions

Child protection challenges are complex and often interconnected with wider issues affecting families and communities. Addressing them effectively requires coordinated action, context-specific solutions, and sustained investment in the organisations working at the local level.

Strengthening local partnerships can help improve coordination, encourage shared learning, and support approaches that are more responsive to children’s needs.

RIA believes that local organisations must be recognised not only as implementing partners but also as active contributors to programme design, decision-making, learning, and accountability.

By supporting local leadership and fostering meaningful collaboration, initiatives such as PACT Lab can contribute to stronger protection systems and more sustainable outcomes for children and communities.

As an organization, we remain committed to working with partners and communities to advance child protection, promote the rights and well-being of children, and strengthen locally led development initiatives.

Our participation in PACT Lab is part of this wider commitment to collaboration, organisational learning, and community-centred action.

We appreciate the opportunity to engage with fellow local partners and remain committed to translating relevant learning and partnerships into meaningful action within the communities we serve.
